    Description

Extra Fine. Banknotes may come with different serial numbers.
During the inflationary period of the Weimar Republic, the Deutsche Reichsbahn banknotes circulated throughout Germany.  These banknotes were issued under authority from the Reichsbank to pay for operating expenses and employee salaries. The first Deutsche Reichsbahn banknote that was issued was a 1 Million Mark banknote on August 12, 1923.  Because of galloping inflation, they had a very short lifespan, being replaced by higher denomination billion (milliarde) mark banknotes.  Most of these banknotes were one sided with a very few exceptions.
