    Description

Many towns issued their own notgeld when the central bank of Germany abdicated its responsibility of producing coins and currency.  So a porcelain making town would make coins from porcelain.  An aluminum producing town would make banknotes from thin aluminum foil.
Here, we have Bielefeld- a textile producing town, which made banknotes from silk or linen.  The
    BOLD
artwork seems to illustrate an Animal Concert!  Did you notice the
    MAESTRO
?  It also depicts many other symbolism and propaganda illustrations- such as
    Uncle Sam
with the word "dollar" on his sleeve!
Beautiful uncirculated note measures about 3¹/2 inches by 6 inches.
    All notes are guaranteed authentic.
The note you see is the one sent, so please check all scans.
Notgeld (German for "emergency money") refers to money issued by an institution in a time of economic or political crisis.  Notgeld generally refers to money produced in Germany and Austria after World War I. Issuing institutions could be a town's savings banks, municipality and private or state-owned firms.  They are interesting pieces of history, and have beautiful artwork.
